SpasticWatercolor

I’ve been playing with SUMO Paint again.  I applied the Liquid Waves filter to an image similar to my Blurry sudoku 2.

I suppose “spastic” isn’t politically correct.  Well, if I’ve offended any of the differently dexterous watercolorists out there, they can try to type in a complaint.

I’m not sure about politically incorrect, but “spastic” is aesthetically incorrect. That pejorative term doesn’t do justice to the image, which is beautiful, whimsical and refreshing.

Can you suggest a better name for it?

First I’m focused on the mechanics of the paint program, then I’m trying to decide whether image A looks better than B. I finally get something I like, and Bam!, “spastic watercolor” pops into my brain. Now it’s stuck there and I can’t get it out.

How about “Liquid Sudoku”? Although that drives out my first impression, which was of abstracted flower petals. I’d really like to use that image as background for a web page, though at its current saturation, it would be a little distracting. It’s just so pretty…

“Liquid Sudoku” is perfect! You’d think I could have figured that out myself.

I’ll work with you on the web page background if you’ll send me a link when it’s done. The main trick is that the pattern has to repeat without visible edges. I’m not sure how to do that, but maybe I can find a way.

You can probably reduce the saturation yourself, if you’re going to put text over the image. Alternatively, you can put text on a solid color and use the image as a border.

Well, I finally was able to incorporate Liquid Sudoku into my family reunion website. I had to reduce the opacity (rather than the saturation) to 25% to keep it from overwhelming the overlying text. Perhaps someone with as experienced an eye as yourself can see the edges, but I can’t. Thanks for letting me use the image! I will credit you on the sitemap page (this page is required by my professor for the project but it is a real working website).
